Ms. Swienton received her M.F.S. from the George Washington University in 1992
and her J.D. (Cum Laude) from The American University, Washington College of
Law in 2002. She is President and CEO of SciLawForensics, Ltd. which provides
litigation support and facilitation for the development of specialized training
and education tools and publications to the criminal justice and law enforcement
communities.
Ms Swienton has served as the Project Manager for the NFSTC/NIJ Resource Guide for Users of Science and Technology. She has also served and continues to serve as a Senior Forensic Analyst for Lockheed Martin, Inc. (formerly ACS Defense, Inc.) In that capacity she has provided technical support in the Investigative and Forensic Sciences Division of the Office of Science and Technology,
at the National Institute of Justice for the National Commission on the Future
of DNA Evidence, various Technical Working Groups , such as the Technical Working
Group on Training and Education in Forensic Science (TWGED), the Technical Working
Group on Digital Evidence in the Courtroom (TWGDEC), the Technical Working Group
on Crime Scene Investigation (TWGCSI), the Technical Working Group on Eyewitness
Evidence (TWGEYEE) and the Technical Working Group on Fire and Arson Scene Evidence
(TWGFASE).
Prior to her legal career she worked as a forensic DNA analyst and
laboratory assistant at Cellmark Diagnostics in Germantown, MD. She has made
numerous professional presentations. She is a member of the American Academy
of Forensic Sciences and the Mid-Atlantic Association of Forensic Scientists
as well as an Advisory Commissioner of the Forensic Science Education Programs
Accreditation Commission and a member of the NIJ Juror Comprehension of DNA
Evidence Research Study Advisory Committee.
