Defendant was found guilty of first-degree murder. On appeal, he filed a motion in limine to preclude the government from introducing evidence and expert testimony of ballistics testing regarding a 9mm pistol alleged to have been used in a murder. The court stated that expert testimony in the field of ballistics was proper subject for expert testimony. To exclude such evidence would severely compromise the truth-seeking function of the trial.
