Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) serves to protect against made-made disasters and hazards through preparation and mitigation. Utilizing an aggressive approach, GEMA seeks to provide effective emergency response and recovery in the event of avian or pandemic influenza, H1N1 virus, hazardous materials, or terrorism. GEMA has a special division entitled Terrorism Emergency Response and Preparedness that collaborates with Homeland Security to conduct training and terrorism planning, including crucial analysis of infrastructure, and agroterrorism.
